I was fully disgusted by the video posted by the Norfolk Constabulary online. In most anti-police discussions I’d usually stand up for the police as I liked to believe that they’re mostly decent people trying to do decent work for the community, protecting us all from harm - but then I see this - mindless, destructive, criminal behaviour from our own policemen, proudly posted by them on the Internet as if to somehow boast and justify these actions and it truly makes me sick. To think that if anyone one of us ‘civilians’ were to be caught by the police mindlessly breaking somebody else’s expensive property with a sledgehammer for no reason - a fine for criminal damage would be the least of our worries, and yet we treated to this video online of the Police doing exactly that. Aren’t they supposed to be a good example to the public? I’d hardly say they were setting a very good example by behaving exactly like the people they arrest and filming it for all to see! Those involved should be punished just like anybody else would be!

There is NO good reason or lawful excuse why any equipment seized from a rave should be destroyed. I agree that if the raves have been arranged illegally, and the persons involved are repeat offenders, the equipment should be seized - but if it is then there’s no harm whatsoever in donating it to local establishments that are much in need of that sort of gear such as: Access To Music, a college in Norwich which relies on student and government funding to provide half decent equipment for the students to use…most of which is very old and out dated, local venues that have sound systems limited to amount of money in the pockets of the owner, the many struggling rehearsal studios across the country, community centres, church groups, a local DJ to use for school discos… the list goes on! There are so many people that could really benefit from equipment like that but instead we all get to watch it being destroyed with a sledgehammer. It’s not very nice to see that our tax money is being spent on providing vandals with building tools so that they can wantonly misuse them in the thoughtless destruction of well made and perfectly useful products.

I would truly like to see something done about this and those that were behind this act brought to justice, and I’m sure that I’m not alone in my beliefs.
